The way to make a Cetol finish last five years or more, is to apply a gloss over the Cetol base. Gloss finishes come in many types and properties, but the two we prefer and use the most are Cetol Gloss and Interlux Goldspar Clear Polyurethane. Once you’ve applied your three coats of Cetol base, you can apply two or three coats of gloss and your finish will last 9-12 months before you need to make any repairs and apply one or two refresher coats of gloss per year. When applied correctly, you’ll be surprised how much this finish looks like varnish, yet lasts much longer
