Description:
WHY VALIANT?

Uncompromising Quality ...
Valiants are deliberately overbuilt and over-engineered. Why? Because there is no such thing as going overboard when it comes to construction and because we know what kind of challenges the ocean can present. At Valiant, there are no construction shortcuts, no cost-cutting production methods. Uncompromising construction quality is paramount for offshore voyaging. Why would anyone settle for less?

Only time-proven building techniques and the highest quality material are used, producing a solid fiberglass hull that is 100 percent hand laid with isophthalic resin, hand-batched one to five gallons at a time, then dyed to help assure proper wet-out technique. Only deck and rigging hardware and on-board systems with successful offshore experience and proven durability are specified. All systems are accessible, and if necessary, removable, including tanks and engine(s).

True Sailing Magic ...
The real Valiant magic happens when the sails go up. If you love performance sailing, you will love Valiant. But with a Valiant, performance means control. The Valiant 50 and 42 are true performance cruisers that safely deliver mile after mile in light or heavy air. In the 1986-87 BOC Round-The-World Race (a single-handed race), the Valiant 50’s older sistership, LONESTAR (a Valiant 47), reported surfing at a steady 26 knots in the southern ocean, all the while in control. The Valiant 50, Hull Number 103, won her division (first across the line on all four legs and first overall corrected time) of the 1999 TransARC race with two cruising couples aboard. Two of the crew were inexperienced in offshore sailing. Her closest competition included a boat with a professional racing crew of six on a supposedly faster racing boat (with coffee-grinders). Like the great sailing Valiant 50, the Valiant 42 points high with out excessive heel, has frequently been reported to reach at 9 knots and surf into the teens, all the while in control – and she tracks like she is on a rail. Valiants do not “hobby”, but rather glide, delivering a dry ride, not digging into troughs or wallowing astern risking a boarding sea. On the Valiant 42, reports of achieving more than 200 miles per day are not uncommon. More importantly, she provides a superbly comfortable, gentle motion that does not beat up or wear out her crew.

Valiant owners love the way their boats sail, love their super-strong construction, love how they stand up over time and the way the comfortably sail past so many larger sailboats. That’s what we think performance cruising is all about. Just ask any Valiant owner.

Comfort and Safety ...
A record that speaks for itself. No other line of boats has sailed as far and as often, and returned their crews home safely. No other sailboat manufactured has more shorthanded miles at sea than Valiant, including around-the-world races and cruises. There have been more significant shorthanded and single-handed blue water passages in Valiants because that is what they are built for and do best.
