Accommodations This exceptional one owner Tayana 48 offers a very spacious interior arrangement with two separate staterooms, each with private head, sink, and separate shower. Abundant storage is provided by hanging lockers and drawers.
The companionway steps lead to the all teak interior, one of Tayana's trademarks. There is a security system with entry and movement sensors and when tripped there are external sirens and deck lights flash. There are 10 courtesy lights at floor level for night use. The boat has central air conditioning and cabin fans throughout. There is a washer/dryer combo unit mounted in a locker in the forward cabin. The navigation station is on the starboard side of the salon and includes a comfortable leather office chair. Cockpit The center cockpit is finished in teak. The binnacle has a 40 inch steering wheel, an instrument pod with Raymarine RL70 radar plotter, ST6000 auto pilot head and ST60 Tri-Data head (d,s,temp) and a Ritchie Globemaster compass. A remote VHF microphone/speaker is mounted to the starboard. Under the dodger are the wind, depth and speed heads and forward-looking sonar displays and a computer navigation LCD screen. All lines lead aft to spinlock rope clutches under the dodger. The running backstays can be deployed from the cockpit. Deck Equipment"Common Crossing" has off-white fiberglass decks with light blue non skid. A beautiful 6" teak cap rail outlines the deck and is finished in a durable 2-part polyurethane. There are six teak hand rails mounted on the cabin top. Two rows of life lines run along the deck through extra sturdy 4 ft high stanchions. At the stern, two custom teak seats are built into the stainless steel stern rails. There is a gate leading down to the swim platform finished in teak and offering hot and cold fresh water shower. There are two lazarettes at the stern. The one on the port side contains a 5 gallon (20lb) aluminum propane tank with connections to the barbeque and galley. There is also room for other items. The one on the starboard side contains the emergency tiller and plenty of room to store other items. The antenna tower has the sat phone and sat TV domes and two GPS antennas. Master Stateroom The master stateroom is aft with lots of storage, hanging locker, and seats with storage underneath to port and starboard of the queen size berth. The seats are upholstered with the same hunter green Ultra Leather as the salon settees. There is a 22" flat screen HD LCD TV mounted on the bulkhead opposite the berth. The ensuite head features a separate stall shower. Access to the steering quadrant and auto pilot connections and more storage is accessible through a removable panel at the head of the berth. Sails and RiggingThe two spreader mast has a bridge clearance of 70 ft. The standing rigging is wire and was last surveyed in Jun 2010. The rigid boom-vang is manufactured by Garhauer. Mounted on the mast at the first spreader level are deck lights, Raymarine 4KW radar scanner and a broadcast TV antenna. At the mast head is a windex, Raymarine wind tranducer, tri-color and anchor light. There are 6 Lewmar self-tailing winches in the cockpit. The two primaries and main halyard winch are electric. The traveler is also by Lewmar. The spinnaker sheets run to the cockpit with the pole down haul. Stainless steel mast guards protect crew while working at the mast.
The UK main is fully battened with lazy jacks and a convenient sail cradle. The jib and staysail are yankee-cut for optimal visibility underway. They are deployed with a Profurl furling system. The jib is a 125% and the staysail is a 100% storm sail. The drifter/spinnaker is asymetric and provides 1800 sq ft of sail area.
