Newport sailboats were built by Capital Yachts Corporation beginning in 1971 and ended in 1996 when the company went out of business. The Naval architects, Gary Mull and Culthertson and Cassian C&C saw a real need for a quality line of sailboats with hand laid hulls and decks, lead keels, heavy duty rigging and hardware and interior designs for extended blue water sailing at a low, fairmarket price. Thus and updated fleet of Newport sailboats was launched.

The Newport 28 is a tall rigged, sloop that really performs in light air, even with little sail up. Light displacement, rounded hull, low profile cabin, sleek lines makes this boat quite tender, but gives surprising interior room and 6'2" standing room in the salon. This is the perfect racer/cruiser, weekender coastal type of boat that can be singlehanded without any problem and balances well with a smaller headsail and full main.

EDAPACSE is a very nice 28 NEWPORT boat that shows well, is clean, has been well maintained and is priced "Below Market.". Hull and canvas are in good condition with the hull being re-painted in early 2010. Also within the last 6 months the water pump has been replaced as well as the jib sheets. She has a nice teak interior that is well laid out with galley aft and starboard. She is used constantly for trips to the Islands and and for local coastal cruising.
