Deck
DECK & HULL
VAINQUUER'S deck is well arranged and very uncluttered. The principal feature is the the majority of sheets are led and managed in such a way as to leave the decks free of working sheets. The only exception being the genoa shetts leading from the deck blocks to the Barient winches located by the helm position.
Commencing at the bow we should highlight the anchor handling arrangement. To port and starboard are two concealed anchor pockets with flushing mounted doors for the retractable anchor rollers with two 450lb CQRs.This anchoring system is unique. The chain leads aft under the deck to a Galleymaid hydraulic windlwindlass with twin wildcats and vertical capstan. The anchor windlass is controlled by a remote joy stick giving visibilty from the bow to the anchors which come out from behind the flush mounted anchor doors.
At the base of the 1995 Omohundro carbon fiber mast are lockers for the Barient hydrolic and manual self-tailing winches for the halyards. To either side (outboard) of the halyard winch lockers are the Seaway hydraulic reel winches for the staysail sheets, main sheet and the main outhaul. These winches are hydraulically controlled on tensioned reels from the wheelhouse or cockpit. All of these hydraulic Seaway winches are individually operated by toggle levers with proportional valves, which allows the paying out and taking in of the sheets without the need to go forward.
