Year: 2000 Current Price: $99,900.00 Hull: Fiberglass Fuel: Diesel
Description:
This is an exceptional yacht that displays design and craftsmanship most people thought had faded into the past. In spite of her classic Herreshoff design, she also has the modern improvements that Nat and Halsey Herreshoff would have incorporated into this design had they been available at that time.
This yacht says quality everywhere you look. The owner commissioned a few custom touches like wheel steering (with autopilot), teak decks, opening hatch over the V berth and and a number of nice additions not found on any of the others built in the Rumery Yards. ETHAN COOKE who built this boat will be at the boat on April 27 2009 and can answer any questions. This is a rare opportunity--please call to schedule.
Admittedly this yacht is not for everyone. However, if you are looking for the best money can buy in this size sailing craft, you need to see her.

Electronics / Navigation
She has an Simrad autopilot. A Autohelm Tridata instrument shows speed, depth and distance. The GPS is by Standard Horizon and boasts a 7" color display with charts of the Chesapeake Bay. This GPS was new in 2007.A VHF radio with RAM mike and compass are also at the helm.
For entertainment the owner has installed a CD player with cockpit speakers
Electrical
There is a 12V DC system for engine start and accessories.
Deck
The deck is planked with teak over glass and it looks great. There are a number of other custom features such as wheel steering, removable hatch and custom teak back rest which are not found on similar Alerions. The wheel was commissioned by the original and current owner. Recognizing that some future owner might want to convert to a traditional tiller configuration, he had the builders construct her in such a way that the conversion would be easy and leave no evidence of the wheel steering.
Winches are self tailing and made of bronze as is most other deck hardware. The roller furling and traveler are by Harken , regarded as the best money can buy by many sailors.
Sails and Rigging
This yacht has a self tending head sail with a club foot boom and Harken roller furling. The boat is rigged for a cruising spinnaker something not found on other similar yachts so that is the purpose of the bronze primaries you see in the photos. Otherwise she is totally self tending when tacking.
Two self tailing coach roof winches handle halyards and other running rigging.
Additional
There is an Aqua Drive coupler to minimize engine vibration and a Max-Prop feathering propeller to reduce drag. A 2000 double axle Triad trailer was custom made to handle this yacht. She is being stored inside as is the owners custom each winter.
This is truly a one of a kind yacht that really stands out in the small group of Rumery Alerions which are exceptional in their own right.
