True North Yachts
This traditional Sparks and Stephens designed hull shows the classic and nautical lines of this well maintained boat. Numerous upgrades and TLC has maintained this boat in the sail away condition that she is in. The sloop rigged vessel has been fresh water sailed all of her life and is currently in the water in Port Credit, Ontario.

This vessel is generally described as a well appointed teak interior with a full forward v-birth. Moving aft on the starboard side are storage drawers and sizable hanging locker. Installed above the drawers and locker is an alcohol cabin heater. To Port is the head with shower and solar powered ventilation fan. A manual Jabsco head with cabinetry and storage under the sink counter top with tank level indicators installed just inside. In the Salon with 6' 2” of headroom the dining table folds onto the main bulkhead with bottle/glass rack teak cabinet behind. This leaves the Salon with the open and roomy environment matched by few other boats in this size. Starboard settee is a single birth and Port settee pulls out to a double birth, both with lee cloths. Both settees with wood spindled shelves along top sides, reading lights, AC outlets and dry storage space behind cushions. Easy roll out drawers are located on the starboard side and drop down doors on the Port side provide access to additional storage and water systems. The large navigation station aft to starboard with upgraded 12 VDC and 120 VAC electrical panels with ample storage in and under the station. Battery compartments are located under the aft single quarter birth. To the Port side is the galley with the pressure alcoholstove with solid wood cutting board cover, galley storage space under the sink and cooking surfaces.

The salon is detailed with two gimbaled brass oil lanterns with a number of 12 VDC lights.

The Volvo Diesel (18HP) with a Volvo Sail drive with closed cooling system is installed amidships in a sound insulated engine compartment. Additional storage space located behind the engine compartment under the cockpit sole. A deep cockpit storage locker (traditional sail locker) on the port side is ample storage for lines hung on outward interior wall and other amenities. The cockpit is well laid out for sailing with bracing “close at hand” while underway. Cockpit instruments are either on the helm station or the starboard bulkhead for close at hand operation in the cockpit. They have been installed to allow viewing from fore or aft of the wheel. Compass, GPS, ST60 Autohelm and Wind Speed and Direction Instruments are installed at helm station and the ST60 Tri-Data instrument is installed on the starboard bulkhead. Custom helmsman seat behind wheel. Man overboard pole, life ring with line and throwing line are all installed on the stainless aft rail. A “Dickinson” propane BBQ is installed on the aft rail to starboard and can be easily removed and stowed in the cockpit locker. Navy colored canvas includes a Bimini, Dodger with a windowed connecting piece and cockpit curtains.

A custom swim ladder that extends deeper into the water than the standard Hughes ladder for easier MOB retrieval has been installed on the transom. Below the water line this boat was refinished in 2007 with 6 coats of Epoxy Barrier Coat, Interprotect 2000 and 3 coats of Micron CSC (Shark White) anti fouling. Floor stringers replaced and upgraded in 2006 with additional upgrades to mast step and underpinning in 2001. Folding marine cradle with extra pads amidships forward and aft of the keel to better support the vessel while laid up for the winter.
