TIM HEYWOOD DEIGN:
With her long, slender hull, the graceful lines of the AMELS 242 bear all the hallmarks of a Tim Heywood design. Part of Heywood’s secret in creating such a streamlined profile for the AMELS 242 is her very long aft deck. “As well as making her very pleasing to the eye, the elongated aft deck offered the opportunity to equip the AMELS 242 with a very nice swimming pool, 6.5M x 3.5m,” says Heywood. “The yacht’s length made it possible to balance the larger volume superstructure and create a very good looking profile without compromise to the interior space.”
Walking on board the AMELS 242 via the passarelle, the swimming pool sets the tone for a yacht that is full of pleasant surprises. The large main salon can be customized for a number of purposes – a formal dining salon, a dance floor, and with the sliding windows in the aft bulkhead able to be opened completely; there is the opportunity to turn the aft deck into one big party area.
As you walk further into the center of the AMELS 242, the main entrance – 4 meters tall and meters wide – conveys the sense of grandeur and scale. Here, every deck is interconnected by the graceful curve of a spiral staircase, and also by a glass elevator.
The interior of the AMELS 242 will be styled by one of the world’s leading interior designers, with details of the design house yet to be announced. Once appointed, the designer will have a wonderful canvas on which to express themselves. Once of the desired aims of the AMELS 242 is to make maximum use of natural light and open space to illuminate the ample living spaces.
On the main deck is 100 square meters of luxury accommodation consisting of two VIP cabins, each with a bedroom, office, VIP guest suite and dressing room. One level higher is a dedicated owner’s deck with 240 square meters of luxury space. The owner’s deck features a forward-looking owner’s suite, ‘his and hers’ bathrooms, and an owner’s office. Aft is the owner’s lounge, with large sliding windows facing aft, capable of making the lounge an inside or outside area, and a separate pantry catering solely for the owner.
Next level up is the bridge deck, with captain’s cabin, wheelhouse, luxury gym and the aft deck fitted with an outside cinema and the option to have a Touch & Go helipad. The highest level, the top deck, affords excellent panoramic views, and the opportunity to relax and soak up the sunshine in the Jacuzzi or on the large sunbeds.
Situated on lower deck aft is a large, full-beam Beach Club, with sauna, steam room, gym and fold down beach platform. Here also is a water sports garage large enough to hold two 9.5m tenders, jet skis and other assorted water toys. Forward and concealed behind a hatch, the man overboard vehicle can double up as a 6 meter crew tender.
In addition to the VIP guest cabins on main deck, there are three guest cabins situated on the lower deck. Accommodation for the crew consists of three single office cabins and eight double cabins, all fulfilling the stringent new ILO regulations. On the tank deck is a full-beam crew lounge, a laundry, additional staff cabin and an extendable storage area, making the yacht easy and pleasant for day-to-day management.
With a captain and 18 crew serving a maximum of 14 guests, the AMELS 242 offers the typically high level of service that has come to be expected of any yacht bearing the AMELS name.
