38' Islander 38 Cruiser
Photo 1 of 15
This very popular but rare find, Islander 38 Cruiser, is fully equippped with all of the amenities for long term and comfortable cruising. Her 12' beam accommodates exceptional living space and loads of storage. She is a notable offshore performer!
In keeping with the objective of luxury and comfort, Bob Perry gave the Islander Cruising 38' pleasing lines with a fine entry and a pronounced flare forward for dryness. The rounded sections provide an easily driven hull and plenty of sail area making her a fast, exhilarating and responsive sailor, dry, points well and very comfortable in a blow. She is exceptionally easy for a husband and wife to handle. The cockpit, with its high, curved, seat backs and large'T" shaped is the social center at moorings. With the addition of a made in Port Townsend ARTFUL DODGER dodger, the 38 becomes an all-weather cruising yacht for pleasant passages in windy, wet weather. Below, the seagoing capability is clearly evident, in spite of the fact that the Islander Cruising 38 provides exceptional living for a couple. The 38 can accommodate up to six. She is powered by a Pathfinder 55hp diesel. There are 120 gallons of hot and cold pressurized fresh water, storage space abounds, and the finish is Islander quality all the way.

Designed for maximum comfort below featuring plenty of light, an airy feeling, spaciousness, and traditional styling.
Stepping down below is a two level cabin. Immediately to port in the upper aft level is the well equipped U-shaped galley (see below). The dinette stretches forward from the galley and curves along the main bulkhead. It easily converts into a double berth or the table may be folded down and stored in the backside of the galley. The starboard side of the main cabin, upper level places the large aft quarter berth with its forward edge serving as a navigator's seat for the drop-leaf navigator' console. From this console going forward and down is another settee which also may serve as a berth. A slight step down takes you through the main bulkhead into the forward compartment with its centerpiece design being a pullman's berth with six foot, six inch berthing length. The berth is an elevated double. with drawers and storage under utilizing the main bulkhead for a headboard and the forward head compartment bulkhead for a footboard. The compartment provides folding louvered doors making a snug private space. Across from the berth to starboard are two large cedar-lined hanging lockers with a built-in, four drawer dresser between them. The forepeak is the head with shower and teak shower bench with its own electric sump pump. There is a pullman unit with stainless steel sink and storage below. Above is the medicine cabinet with mirror. The chain locker is forward and accessable from the head.
