The Hans Christian 43 Christina represents the final word in high quality, heavy duty go anywhere cruising yachts that came out of the Far East at the end of the 20th century.
As a 1999 model, Ideal 1 is reported to be the very last of these incredible cruising yachts built in Thailand before production costs made them unaffordable for the general public. To replace this boat with a similar model today would likely cost upwards of $900k!
The story behind the Christina model is best described by Hans Christian guru Craig Beck who was for many years one of the two main importers of these yachts for the American market. He described the boat thus:
“The project started in 1984. A total of 34 boats of this model were built. The designer, Scott Sprague designed this series of yachts to produce superior cruising speed and a stiff sailing yacht, due to the faster turn of the hull which presents a hard shoulder to leeward, with good weatherly performance for a medium displacement yacht. The long cord fin and the ½ skeg rudder provide excellent tracking, along with great maneuverability and a light helm. The interior of these yachts are a testament to the legendary craftsmanship of the Hans Christian yachts and truly a masterpiece to be seen. The Christina 43 deck layout was designed with safety and manageability in mind. This produced a yacht that is the epitome of what a proper cruising yacht should be.”
Ideal 1s sail plan is easily managed by just one person and with her double roller furling headsails, large self-tailing winches and rigid vang, reefing is a breeze.
Her cockpit is quite well protected and features and heavy duty offshore dodger with optically clear isinglass windows and substantial boom gallows for when the main is furled or when the trysail is hoisted on its separate track.
She features a full complement of recent Raymarine electronics including radar on a substantial stern arch, AIS, charter plotter and all the usual things like AWS, depth and speed logs and autopilot, all 2010 or newer. She has dockside air conditioning and a washer a dryer as well as flat screen TV and DVD player so you will not be roughing it aboard Ideal 1. Her stereo system is recent and ipod ready and her sumptuous interior will give you great pleasure as you entertain or just relax below.
Ideal 1 has been lovingly maintained by her careful and meticulous owners and is in very good overall condition. She has recently had all of her standing rigging replaced and her cruising gear is in top notch condition. This fine vessel would be an excellent choice for anyone wishing a relatively young and super well-made cruiser capable of taking you anywhere in the world in safety and comfort.

Hand crafted teak throughout. Cabin sole is teak and holly. Overheads are fiberglass molded sections. Upholstery is patterned with different tones of blue and yellow flecks.
Most forward via the head is the anchor locker. The head includes a toilet, shower with vanity, mirrors and extra storage areas. Aft of the forward head is a large double pullman berth to port with drawers and storage below. There is a hanging locker and clothes washer/dryer to starboard.
Aft of the forward cabin in the main salon is the dining area to port with a U shaped settee surrounding the rigid teak dining table. Opposite to starboard is an additional settee with storage under and behind. The settee also pulls out to a double bunk if required. There are shelved units and cupboards line the outboard above both settees. Aft of the dining area to port is the semi-U-shaped galley. There is dual countertop space fore and aft of the sinks and stove, where the fridge and freezer units are located below. Opposite the galley to starboard is the navigation station with separate pedestal seating and drawers for storage. Further aft of the navigation station is the aft head.
Opposite the companion way steps is the entrance to the aft cabin to port. The aft cabin has a double berth with a teak privacy door. There is a hanging locker with additional storage.
