Strong, solid Wittholtz designed classic pilothouse trawler. 2014 install of factory rebuilt Ford Lehman diesel provides for confident travel. This is an efficient boat to operate- cruising at 8.5 mph on a mere 1.5 gallons per hour. Boat is currently enjoying a cruise along the eastern US coast.
Refurbished from 2007-2013. Boatyard applied fiberglass and West System epoxy sheathing over sound cedar on oak construction assures years of dependable service, strength and dry bilges. Surveyor calls this hull "Bulletproof". Recent Awlgrip on the topsides, and smooth finishes throughout the yacht makes for an attractive vessel. Comfortable forward stateroom with queen berth.
Cool, distinctive pilothouse boat that gets favorably noticed in any harbor. Significant updates benefit this original 1971 hull, while nicely retaining the charm of that earlier design. Convenient, straight forward systems simplify cruising. Manageable yacht.

Surveyor's Comments April 2013:
This is classic pilot house tug/trawler yacht from the drawing board of Charles Wittholz and built by Rice Marine Railway in Reedville, Va. Constructed of yellow cedar planking on sawn white oak frames with plywood decks and superstructure.
"Charlie Noble" is a quite unique vessel, originally built in 1971, but over the last six years she has undergone the transformation from a wood vessel to what can only be considered composite. The owners have wooded the hull, refastened where necessary, splined between the planks, and sheathed her with 18 oz. FRP and West System epoxy. reportedly the topsides have three layers, the chines have five layers, and the keel and garboard areas have eight layers. The hull at this time is virtually bullet proof.
