A lot of the used houseboat for sale market has upper and lower helm stations. When the weather gets inclement, you can always pilot the houseboat from the lower station inside the boat...keeping nice and dry! The upper station is the flybridge...sitting on top of the houseboat giving you a great view. The bridge deck area is usually spacious and has plenty of seating. Some have bimini tops, or even complete enclosures. Houseboats also have a lower deck behind the flybridge. This is sometimes called the sundeck... another spacious area to entertain your guests. You can find lounge chairs, cushions, and cocktail tables here. You have quite a bit of square footage up there with railing that encompasses the area. On your lower decks, the railing is also here, going along the outside edge of the houseboat. There are gates that open to let you on from various points on to or off the docks. The forward area may have a built in couch under a fiberglass over hang to protect you from the sun or rain. The aft area is open and spacious and some models you look at have a rear sliding glass door to enter the houseboat from.
It is all about convenience. It is like having an apartment on the water! With your galley (kitchen), head with showers (bathroom), staterooms (bedrooms), salons (living rooms), even a dinette area (dining room), makes this a floating condo!
Houseboats for sale come in many different interiors. The options and amenities are almost endless. Plus you get to travel south during the winter and back north for the summers if you like. You can keep changing your scenery, towns, and states by turning the key and moving on.
Many like this life, especially if they are retired and can become that free bird they always dreamed of, but anyone can do this, including families. Hey, where's my Fishing pole?
