Eau Gallie Boatworks was established in 1896 and is reputed to be the oldest boatyard on the east coast of Florida. At that time the basin where the boatyard is located was known as Captain Aaron Bennett\\'s Storm Proof Yacht Basin due to being surrounded on three sides by 20 ft buffs.
